Honey & its Healing Power on the Skin

by Verena Prantl |

Honey used to be a sign of prosperity and till today it still considered a very important part of our society. Especially since the cosmetic world has discovered honey and its healing properties for their benefits. However, this is not a new trend - even the ancient Egyptians already knew about the healing power of honey. They used it as medicine, processed it to ointments or even to antibiotics. How honey helps our health and how it affects our skin, we have found out all of it for you.

Honey Acts Against Acne

It’s not only children who sleep better after a cup of hot milk with honey, but it is also for skin which is affected by acne, this liquid gold helps. The best effect is when you rub the honey on your face, possibly diluted with a little warm water. Why does honey have such an effective effect against pimples and acne? This is probably because honey has two important properties: it is antibacterial and healing. This means that harmful bacteria, which are responsible for any unwelcome pimples, is combated by honey and inflammation is cured at the same time.

Apart from that honey also removes dead skin cells, which is due to the enzymes contained in the honey. At the same time, it can also be used as a natural exfoliant that is gentle on the skin.

Also, amazingly gentle on the skin is our NAVI Pure Refreshing Cleansing Gel, which cleanses your skin deeply, cares gently and protects against irritation, pimples and blackheads.

Honey and Royal Jelly: A Weapon against Wrinkles

Royal jelly is likely to be familiar to everyone. This refers to the feed with which the bees raise for their Queen Bee. Of course, this gets only the best - therefore the feed is rich in vitamins B, C, E biotin and folic acid. To win Royal Jelly requires a lot of effort, but it is already available in certain stores. Especially for the skin, royal jelly proves to be particularly good - it is a real energy boost and it stimulates blood circulation and natural cell metabolism. In addition, it supports a balance of the skin and cushions unwanted wrinkles. But even with regular honey you can prevent them - by its moisturizing properly we prevent wrinkles.

But not only does this work with the help of honey, but you can even combat dark circles. Applied from the outside, the vitamins contained in the honey, as well as niacin and pantothenic acid can provide the skin with sufficient nutrients and thereby reduce dark circles.

Our Tip: If honey does not show enough effect on you, you should use our NAVI Ultra-Whitening Serum - with the help of vitamin C, zinc and olive leaf extract, it fights the dark shadows under the eyes!

Propolis Supports Skincare

Propolis is another substance that is produced by bees but is not directly contained in honey - although there are already different varieties of honey that have been refined with propolis. Propolis consists to a large extent of tree resin, but also contains beeswax, as well as minerals, flavonoids, trace elements and even amino acids.

Propolis inhibits the growth of harmful bacteria, fungal spores and viruses, which is of course important to the hive. But this property is not only essential for the hive, but can also be used by humans: and by those with impure skin. It has an analgesic, antibacterial effect, promotes wound healing and inhibits inflammation at the same time.

Our Tip: In order to protect your skin from harmful substances in the air and the environment, we recommend our NAVI Anti-Pollution Hydro-Day Cream, which provides your skin with moisture, but also protects from the sun and premature ageing!
