Salt Water against Pimples? What Seawater does..

Summer, sun, beach – and of course the sea. Once a year you have to take such a break for the body and soul: just put your feet up, enjoy the sun and go swimming in the sea. But what does salt water do to our skin? Should you pay special attention if you have dry or oily skin? Don't worry – here you will find everything you need to know about the effects that salt water has on the skin and you can book your next beach holiday with peace of mind.

Cleaning and Disinfection

As there is usually a saltwater pool in every good spa hotel, it seems reasonable to assume that salt water cannot be that bad. And indeed: salt in the water ensures that the pores in the skin opens up in the salt water and thereby it gets cleaned. It's almost like dabbing your face with a slice of ginger before applying your NAVI Pure Refreshing Cleansing Gel. Salt water also helps with pimples and blemishes due to its disinfecting effect.

Wound Healing: Activated

Swimming in the sea not only inhibits inflammation, but also promotes wound healing. Especially if you have problems with slow healing skin, you should try a saltwater bath. For larger wounds, however, one should be a little cautious: As probably most have already experienced first hand, salt water can burn once it touches open wounds!

Salt water: Especially Good for Oily Skin

Of course, it should be mentioned at this point that salt water is not equally suitable for all skin types. Oily skin reacts particularly positive to salt water: it gets a deep cleanse and with regular usage, a clearer skin is formed.

But salt dries out the skin – right? If you are prone to dry skin, you should actually be a little more careful with salt water. Nevertheless, as salt water penetrates to deeper layers than normal bath water, the skin is also supplied with important minerals – which are also essential for dry skin.

For both skin types, after care is important: Always rinse the salt water thoroughly and use nourishing lotions, such as the moisturising NAVI Pore-Refining Hydro-Emulsion,to help the skin gain the lost moisture.

Whether Steam Bath or Compress: Salt Helps

Such saltwater cure should not only be indulged once a year on holiday, but also – just like that! – when you are busy at work and at home. For this, you can simply go to a steam bath in the evening or put on a saltwater compress. Inhalation of salt water is a small insider tip: This not only gets the skin off the positive aspects of salt water, but it also prevents respiratory infections – or alleviates them if you already suffer from it.

Good for the Whole body: Relief of the Spine

With the right care afterwards, salt water actually has many advantages for our skin. In fact, it has many benefits for our skin. It also helps with circulatory problems, problems with the spine, tension and even rheumatism! So you see: from such a holiday by the sea you come back holistically relaxed and a radiantly beautiful skin.
